Last week I ran a bunch of comics dealing with things that bug me about teaching… this week, it’s all about the things I LOVE about teaching!

For those of you out there who are thinking “Oh my God, Mr. Pearce recommended one of the most violent, explicit books currently in print to a 9th grader… what IS he doing?”  Well, in answer to that question, I’d ask you to click over to our local paper’s website and read this article. Then know how proud we all are of Julia!

I feel really conflicted about the Host film. As a HUGGEEEE fan of the book, I felt that it definitely should have been longer, c’mon guys, you can’t cram 600+ pages into a 2:05 hours movie, I think that called for a time closer to 3 hours. I felt that everything was really rushed, I came out of it feeling like Ian and Wanda fell in love in the course of like 10 minutes. ugh. I felt like the acting was good, and overall, it was a decent film, but nothing compared to the books. I think if you loved the book like I did, you’ll appreciate the film, but it may be a little disappointing too.

I agree completely. But considering that it is such a long book and stuff, they made an amazing job in not changing that much and maintaining certain key points true to the book. I loved it because it was faithful to the book, unlike other books-made-to-film.

Conventional Weapons is missing…but yeah…thank you. Thank you for playing amazing songs. Thank you for making me feel better. Thank you for making me be calm. Thank you for making me daydream <3
